You can find all the details on her blog post here. Will you be joining us? I believe that if you're not local to Melbourne you can join in by sending her a pic of yourself in your high-tea finest and join in in spirit.
I'm hoping to make a pretty dress for the occasion, and am even hoping that this event will give me the push to finally have the guts to sew up the blue roses liberty that my Gran gave me. The plan is to make something that I can also wear to a wedding I'll be going to later in the year.
I was thinking something with a fitted bodice and a full skirt, but there's so many decisions to make! I think I've settled on a bodice a bit like the one below, with a wide scooped neck and extended shoulder seams to make little cap sleeves. However, I don't know which kind of skirt I want; gathered, pleated, gored, circle? So many options!
Are you going to come to the Sewcie Tea? (If you are, remember to RSVP to Mel)
What kind of dress would you make with the blue roses liberty?
PS: And for Melbourne locals, remember the fabric shopping trip Kat is planning for the 9th of Feb? No? All the details can be found here. That should also be a fun day!
That fabric is gorgeous!! I so wish I lived in Melbourne, alas, Sydney it is for me :( I hope you guys have a great time!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabric - the strength of the colours is just amazing! Wish I lived in Melbourne, or Sydney, but wet-old-Brisbane is for me....enjoy your fun day together...J
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks for the shout out Rach! The blue roses liberty is utterly gorgeous, and I'm also struggling to decide between going for a gathered dirndl style or a circle skirt style... but I'm leaning towards the former - especially when I saw that red and white skirt on your pattern - I like the idea of having a non-gathered section at the front.
ReplyDeleteAnd after you pointing out all that fabulous coloured tulle at GJs - I'm thinking a colourful petticoat is going to be required!
That fabric is delish, Rach! I say pleast for your skirt but I am on a huge pleats bender at the mo. Can't wait to see it :D
