Hollyburn Sew-Along - Pattern Alteration - Removing The Pockets

Today's post is the first of a few posts about pattern alterations, and is a quick one - a tutorial on how to remove the pockets. You'll need to do this if you either want to make a skirt without the pockets (or different pockets), or want to line the skirt - this pattern piece without the pocket will be your lining pattern piece.

You'll  need two pattern pieces for this alteration; the skit front for the view you're making (piece 1, 3 or 5), and the pocket (piece 7)

What we're going to do is 'fill in' the chopped off corner at the top-side corner of the skirt front piece:

So first you'll need to stick some extra paper to that corner (or don't cut out the pattern piece quite yet) like below:

Now carefully line up the pocket pattern piece over the skirt front piece, making sure that you match up the notches:

Now trace around the edge of the skirt piece. Remember to mark the notch near the side of the upper edge of the pattern piece:

And cut out along the line you just traced:

That was pretty painless wasn't it!
